Seasonal inventory management

SUPERMIND’s seasonal inventory management feature allows you to effectively manage the assortment and replenishment of seasonal products. With the feature, you can determine different types of seasons for your products. Every season has a validity period, which can be determined, for example, based on demand.

Benefits

SUPERMIND’s seasonal inventory management feature offers many advantages, including the following:

  • Ensures timely availability of products
  • Maximizes full-price sales of seasonal products
  • Minimizes leftover seasonal inventory
  • Helps identify and categorize products

Different types of seasons

High season refers to a time of year when a product sells at a higher velocity. Fluctuations in demand may be due to weather, holidays, or even a particular event.

For example, the demand for rainwear is at its highest during the spring and fall seasons, while the demand for sunscreen, outdoor equipment, and ice cream is at its highest during the summer season.

There can also be a scenario where two or more seasons overlap. The dark season starts in the fall and ends in the spring, but it also includes the winter, which is basically its own season: flashlights and safety reflectors are needed from fall to spring, but ice scrapers and quilted coats only in winter.

The winter season, in turn, includes even shorter sub-seasons, such as the Christmas season. The advent calendar is one of the most popular Christmas season products, and its demand starts at the end of October and ends quite precisely on the last day of November.

Some products may sell better during certain periods, but still have demand throughout the year. Such products include, for example, candles, terrace screws, and gingerbread.

Effective management

Seasonal inventory management combined with state-of-the-art seasonal forecasting models make it easier to order products on time. The demand forecasts based on previous seasons’ sales ensure optimal order quantities. SUPERMIND’s intelligent demand calculation tool takes into account the suppliers’ delivery times and order schedules, so that seasonal products are ordered well before the start of the season.

SUPERMIND also takes care of additional product replenishments during the season, if they are possible within the seasonal delivery times.

With SUPERMIND, you can define several different time intervals for one season. For example, you can include spring and fall separately under the rainy season. In this way, the automated system makes sure that you have enough rubber boots and rain pants whenever they are needed.
